Vanity Media: How We Started

Slow Car Society

It all started in 2019 when I was still in Highschool. I was in a Auto Collision Repair class with a few other friends. At the time, I owned a Pontiac Grand Prix GT and would go to car meets around our city. Me and a couple friends started Slow Car Society as a joke since we all were just highschoolers driving shitty cars, hence the name.

Fast forward to about 2022, we decided to change our name. I have always been about having pride in my accomplishments and being grateful of the things I have done. That's where the name Vanity came from (Vanity: Excessive pride in ones own accomplishments and Achievements). Around this time, we were attending take-overs and always involved in drama with other groups and people in our city's car scene.

Project Vanity

Early 2023, we decided that takeovers weren't as cool as people say they are and there's no way to succeed in being apart of that culture. We decided to re-brand as Project Vanity to better suit who we are and what are goals are. Our goal was to create a brand/group that people can support that also have pride in their goals and more. We planned on creating clothing and start YouTube, but due to life and other things happening we never actually got to.

Vanity Media Group, LLC

In March of 2024, me and a friend got fired from our full-time job. We did not know what we wanted to do next as a job. We both always talked about starting a detailing business, getting a LLC, opening a garage and more. That is when we both decided that this is the time to get started. We filled to get a LLC under the name "Vanity Media Group". The reason for this name is because we feel like it will better show who we are and what we do. Vanity Media is a group of friends that create online content for the world to enjoy, while also offering Auto Services, Clothing, having car shows and more.

Every Little Thing Kept Adding Up, God Put Us In This Situation For A Reason

Ever since we decided to start the LLC, small events and interactions just kept adding up. Our Agent that filed our LLC called us to talk about information about us so he can send our file to the State. When we explained who we are and what we do, it turned out that he was also a car enthusiast. He liked what our goals and plans are and said he hopes we will be successful. But the cool part is, he asked where we are located and we said Pittsburgh. We already told him we are planning to have a huge car show this spring. It turns out, he is coming to Pittsburgh for a wedding the same week we are planning to have the show. He said he will try his best to stop by the car show and show his support. To me, this felt like god put us in this situation for a reason and gave us this agent for a reason as well. The coincidence that he is a car guy too and that he is coming to our city the same week we are hosting our first car show of the season is just amazing.
